Been a long time since blog post, but many things have happened on our web site.
First off a new name at Two Friends Travels then a gallery of our web pictures (over 1500) at our Gallery. Just a great pastime, and just hope that you continue to enjoy.
Baseball - Major League Baseball Travels
A major effort has recently been made to enhance our BASEBALL fan site. After travelling to all Major League Baseball cities we have now by team provided recaps of our adventures with maps. An easy way to visit and view the teams you wish and for us it was the start of an exciting pastime, that has yet to end.

Panama - Gamboa Resort
In the midst of the Panama rainforest, you will find that the Gamboa Resort has everything, including many planned excursions on the property or nearby. Taking the aerial tramway thru the treetops to the top of a nearby hill and being able to view Gatlun Lake and the Panama canal is quite the experience but there are other excursions that would satisfy most desires.

Panama - Gamboa Resort

Panama - Santa Clara
As the picture depicts, this is not a five star resort. Actually it appears to be made for the movies. However it is real, and the accommodation and the beach area provided an excellent nights` lodging. There is not much more than one can ask for, when you are able to sit under the cabana with a drink in your hand and watch the ocean breakers washing against the beach

Panama City - Noriega
It is quite an exciting experience when you are invited in to tour one of North America`s most famous person`s home. Treading thru the home, where likely few have passed through before was exhilirating but the lack of maintenance was very apparent and one could vision the home and grounds being razed in the near future.

Arizona - Saguaro National Park
Walking beside the towering cactus plants sure does bring size into perspective. This trip thru the Saguaro National Park outside Tuscon is worth a visit. If you have the 3-4 hours extra time try to visit the State Park nearby that shows many types of cactii.

Florida - Cape Canaveral - Space Shot
A beautiful evening weatherwise, with the moon in the background made for a fabulous shot of the STS-98 rocket launch to the International Space Station on Feb 7, 2001. The colours and sounds were quite different and I found the experience to be great. If you have a chance to attend, make that extra effort. It was very worthwhile from my point of view, and if you have broadband click on the picture to view a video clip.

Bahamas Out Islands - Eleuthra - Pink Sand Beaches
South Dakota - Mount Rushmore
Mount Rushmore showcases some of our most famous US presidents. The scultures carved into a mountain are a past testament to the work efforts of individuals that did not have todays modern equipment. Today the sculptures are one of America's favorite locations to visit and the Black Hills in South Dakota are a fitting location to reside in.
South Dakota - Overview

California - Giant Redwoods
The giant Redwoods in Northern California must be seen to be appreciated. It is quite difficult to put in words just how tall they are, and how wide they are at the trunk level. Walking thru the forests with such mamouth trees really puts it into perspective on how we fit into the worlds environment.
California - Overview

Colorado - Rocky Mountain National Park
Fabulous views from on top of the Rockies. The drive thru the park is very worthwhile even after you are instructed to return if the height begins to affect your health. Snow was in many spots even though fall was on the horizon and the summer had been quite warm. Stop at many of the viewpoints along the way and have a fresh roll of film.
Colorado - Overview

Mexico - Mazatlan
For those that wish to see part of real Mexico, yet want to have some of the North American features, then Mazatlan may be for you. The old town is very mexican in nature with its Markets, roads and fountains. You can also visit the El Faro lighthouse (but there is quite a rough climb to get there). The Golden Zone has the newer condos, time shares and the best of the beaches. The weather when we were there (Jan-Feb) was just terrific. The bus ride from San Antonio to Mazatlan will never, never be forgotten.
Mazatlan - Overview

Oregon - Coastal Highway
The coastal highway in Oregon, including Bandon and south to the border of California is spectacular in scenery. Many alcoves are featured and the rock formations in the Atlantic highlight the ocean waves. It seems to be that perfect place to get away from it all, and just enjoy the waves and scenery.

Florida - Fort Lauderdale / Hollywood - The Boardwalk in Hollywood
The Boardwalk in Hollywood compares very favourably to Fort Lauderdale beach. It has the beach yet has many restaurants, bars, hotels, etc. without having to cross a highway. Prices are cheaper and the boardwalk itself allows for bicycles to intermingle with the abundance of walkers. One seems to much closer to what most come here for in the winter: Sun, Sand and good times. Appears to be more traffic for longer term Snowbirds.
Fort Lauderdale / Hollywood - Overview

Utah - Zion National Park
Zion`s rock formations are awesome. During summer months the bus actually takes you up the canyon for miles. The narrated tour on the way up allows for one to stop at many points for more in depth views of the terrain. We took the walk up the river for maybe 4-5 miles in at times knee high water but you experience the true effect of the canyon walls.
Utah - Overview

Texas - San Antonio
It`s not only the Alamo that attracts tourists to this area, but also the Riverwalk or Market that brings in visitors by the busload. My favorite is walking along the riverwalk, browsing the stores, or stopping at a sidewalk cafe to experience San Antonio's eateries. The Mexican influence is apparent everywhere and the visit to the Alamo shows you how close we really are.
Texas - Overview

Michigan - Mackinac Island
Mackinac Island lives in the past as there is absolutely no motorized traffic. Fortunately one is able to travel around using bikes and horse carriages, but we were able to see most of the islands fabulous buildings and sites on our walking tour. Plan on spending most of the day and book accommodations on either the island or the nearby ferry departure points.
Michigan - Overview

Lake Superior - Fabulous views from it's most northerly points. Picture and the video on web site were taken during a summer vacation drive where the weather was accomodating and the air was fresh.
North-West Ontario - The True North

Who would of believed that one would be able to find a diamond in the rough. The picture and video clips were taken on a trip to Elliot Lake to review retirement living options. This area has many, many lakes, with great fishing during summer months, hunting during the fall period and for those that do not seek warmer climates in the winter, it has great snowmobile trails and winter sports
Northern Ontario - Clear skies with no pollution

Louisianna - New Orleans area
This plantation tour is on the west side of New Orleans and hopefully has not had flooding from the Katrina or Rita hurricanes. It is well worth the price to see how many of our ancestors lived decades ago. The video clip on the web site shows how immaculate the grounds are kept.
Louisianna - New Orleans Plantation

Florida - Clearwater area - Honeymoon & Caladesi Islands
In one of Florida`s great parks you are able to bike or walk and visit nature close up. Close to Dunedin on Honeymoon island you can view the Osprey on the tall pine trees, take a short non-vehicle ferry ride to Caladesi island to soak in the sun & sand in one of our nation`s finest natural beaches, or put yourself into a comfortable chair and watch the boat traffic.
Florida - Clearwater area - Honeymoon Island

Florida - Clearwater Beach - Palm Pavilion
For a beach enthusiast that enjoys some of the modern pleasures in life, the Palm Pavilion allows you to quench your thirst, have one of their delicious wraps, and view the Gulf of Mexico with only sand between itself and you.
Truly a favorite of mine with many, many visits.
Clearwater Beach - Palm Pavilion

Florida - Key West - Sunset
Sunsets that you can only dream of seeing. The picture and video clips on the web site were taken from an early visit (one of seven). Key West and the sunset go together, and should be enjoyed by all if the opportunity arises. Spend a night and take in the numerous activities but plan ahead for accomodation if possible.
Florida - Key West Overview

Colorado - Pike`s Peak
The cog railway provided the vehicle to visit Pike`s Peak and we were not disappointed. The trip up and down provided the time to view the outstanding scenery and while on top we were able to see for miles upon miles. One can drive up the mountain also, but using the cog railway lets the driver view the scenery as well
Colorado - Overview

Utah - Bryce Canyon
A truly spectacular site. While there view the scenery at all the scenic points and if at all possible walk to the canyon floor past the many hoodoos. If you take the walk however, remember that it is rather strenuous and should only be attempted if you are in good health, but it will last in your memories forever as a favorite.
Utah - Overview

Georgia - Savannah
Recommend taking the trolley tour as you are able to see many of the historic buildings and sites in old town `Savana`. Try one of the many restaurants by the river. A personal favorite of ours and the favorite of over 500 pages on the web-site. Enjoy your visit, we did.

Bahamas Out Islands - Abaco - Sunrise, Sunset
Being able to see the sunrise in the morning over the Atlantic, walk only 150 yards across the road, and see the sunset in the evening over the Carribean, is more than what most of us can see in a lifetime.
Bahamas Out Islands - Abaco - overview

Arizona - Grand Canyon
A visit to the Grand Canyon should be a requirement. Its sheer size together with the many colors leave you breathless, but its beauty will never be forgotten. Once smitten it is hard not to return for another visit.

Bicycle Trips for the Semi-Retired - Oshawa, Ontario
This relatively short trail (7km/4mi) travels alongside the Oshawa creek and provides many areas thru parkland. Well used by both walkers and bikers and quite often you are able to see individuals fishing the stream.
